New Poll and Picture

Okay everyone, please note that there is a new poll on the right-hand side of the blog. We are voting on the t-shirt graphic. Mostly we just want to be sure that everyone is happy with it. I sent out a link through email, but for anyone who hasn't gotten it, here is the link again:

That will take you to a picture of the front (which has the quote at the top of this blog) and the back. It also gives the t-shirt description for anyone interested in knowing, as well as listing the sizes available.

Because Grandma doesn't vote on these, I will tell you what her vote was. She wants the shirt as is, rather than changing the graphic to a lime. But, we will go with a majority vote. So, please just vote and let me know how you feel. Once we have a deciding vote (we'll give it a week), we'll get the shirts ordered. You can still email me with the sizes you need and the quantity.

Also, I talked to my mom about it. She will order the t-shirts and you can pay her when you get here if you want. You can pre-pay and send the money early if you so desire. But if you would rather wait until you're here, she said that is fine. Again, the cost is $11.40 per shirt. At least that's the quote I got based on the number I figured. If they are a little less, we'll refund the money. If they are a little more, we'll cover it. Anyway, just let me know! Love to all!

And here's another picture from yesteryear! Aunt Hila, you probably haven't ever seen this one before, so hope you like it! It's from 1996 when Elka and Mrs. S went to Panama. It's not clickable, though. I need to download Firefox on my mom's computer!

Needing Something New!

Well, I decided we needed something new on here. And I'm a slacker. I have really fallen behind on family reunion stuff. As everyone can probably see from the voting, the t-shirt slogan that won is:

Lymans -- not just a bunch of stiffs!

As we are now in June, that leaves us with 5 months to finish up our planning for this shindig. Are we all pretty happy with things as they are right now? Anybody need anything?

Well, I can't think of too much else to say at the moment. But, I figure we always need a picture!

So, this is a bunch of bathing beauties and one bathing studly around Summer 1990 -- the same year the cockroach fell out of the sugar.

Love to all!

to nilla, with love

because i know you love snakes...
i'm going to post this on our blog, but didn't want to overload my pictures for the week! (i know my adoring fans thrive on my words! *sarcasm*)
we went to the rattlesnake roundup.
yes, i ate some.
here is my experience...
(at this point i've realized it's really chewy, cartilagey, and filled with bones. in fact it was like a 3 inch section of the snake cut up, intestine free, and deep fried... ok, i'm grossing myself out! elliott actually watched them butcher a couple; he even got video of the still beating heart. gross. yes, i do plan on sharing that.)
i don't think i need to relive this experience, but at least i can say i tried!

Bathing Studlies

Well, since I did a bathing beauties post before, I figured I would do one of the bathing studlies. Because don't we all need to see pictures such as this :)? And besides, I figured it was time for me to put something new up.

So, check out these two squeaky-clean stud-muffins.

Clifton family's first post

First the nearly normal family recent picture. Taken in the back of our backyard, missing Jimmie's girlfriend Loan (lwan).

Next we have the Mafia that forced us to go to dinner at the Ritz Carlton in San Francisco on our 25th anneversary.

And now, a slightly confused Sleeping Beauty at Disneyland. Jimmie wanted a real drink, the only place to get one was at Ariel's Grotto restaurant where all the Princesses walk up to your table and talk to you. After Jimmie's 3rd drink Sleeping Beauty shows up. I think she was a bit confused by us 3 alone at the table. She did handle us well, kept Arthur from putting his arm around her. Thus the slightly puzzled look on her face.

Jimmie's girlfriend Loan. As you can see she fits right in. Very nice, takes no crap from Jimmie. Her parents fled Vietnam in the early 1970's. She works at Jimmie's wind turbine company. We are very happy to have her as part of the family!

more pictures

this picture was taken before aunt m. showed up and before grandma woke up. i actually somewhat remember me telling everyone to take a picture, but could also be wrong!
This is one of my personal favorite of all the sisters. I like how their outfits all sort of match without any planning and that the smiles are so natural.

Polls Closed!

Hey everyone!

Okay, thanks for voting and giving comments and suggestions! The final result for the t-shirt color is black with lime green writing. The black should fit in nicely with the whole funeral home thing (as someone has mentioned previously :)). Also, black shirts will look fine with kahki pants or jeans, so that should be good too! And, as Aunt M pointed out, we won't have to be blinded by a bunch of bodies in lime green!

Also, due to the fact that the majority voted this way (and also because we don't know how many nights everyone will be able to stay in WA), we are just going to have Debbie put together the cookbook as was originally planned. So, submit your recipes to Debbie through email, or you can add them on the blog and tag it with the word "recipes."

Also, I will start taking suggestions for the t-shirt slogan. Several suggestions were made back in January, and I have all of those. But if you come up with some others, just let me know, either through email or through blog comments! I will create that poll later on. But let's try to get the nominations/suggestions to me for t-shirt slogan by April 11th. That gives us almost 3 weeks, in case the 2 weeks I've been giving hasn't been enough time :).

Also, I pilfered through my family's photo albums over Spring Break, and I have some doozies! I will be sending them on to Uncle Mark for photo compilation, but I will also post some of them here! So here's one for today! Don't you just love Brad's facial expression?

Pictures

Here are pictures of me (the baby...Mrs. S now) and my mom (HP)

And of course my naked sister in the back bathing!
***A huge thank you to Nilla for knowing how to convert these pictures to make them "blogable"

3 Hilas

Aunt Hila sent me this picture, and I thought it was neat. I also thought it was applicable enough to the family reunion :). Thanks Aunt Hila!

It was taken in 1989.

Going to the Temple

I wanted to share a few of these with everyone! Love you all!

Grandpa kept saying that he's now been a witness for 4 sealings (El and Ka, Mr. N and Mrs. S, Ben and Michelle, and Brad and Tarylyn). I know he was excited about that.

And here's a few more, so as many people as possible are "represented" :).

This is Sean, Ben and Michelle's oldest:

Four Beauties in the Northeast

Okay, I can't believe I haven't posted any of these on here yet. They are probably familiar to any of you who have read my blog. But here's a little photo compilation anyway :).
The two Hila's on the subway:
We thought it would be neat for us to pose next to the place where Grandpa served
Two different generations (two of his daughters, two of his granddaughters):
And finally, a riddle: How many Lymans does it take to change a sock?
Answer: 4... One to step in ice-water with a bum knee so that the event has to take place, one to hold up the leg with the bum knee so it doesn't get hurt anymore, one to change out the sock, and one to chronicle the event for the whole family :)

The Little E Family

So you know, we call ourselves The Little E Family not because we are a small family, but because we are small people. Mr. N measures in at 5"4 or 5"5 and I measure in at 5"2. M is just plain little.

sisters, sisters

there were never such devoted sisters...
(hp are you singing, yet?)this is my absolute favorite picture in the entire world (ok, so that was a slight exaggeration). i think everyone's personality is tell-tale, and it's just fantastic.

isn't she a beautiful bride?
check out how tan i am! i think the older i get the more white i become (which is why i should be a coconut. i'll be that white by the time i'm 80!).
4 generations of marriage & blood.

rj was named after grandpa.
4 generations of blood, g-pa, rj, me, rc & hp.
(doesn't rj's head look like the same size as mine? see nilla, i told you it's genetic.)
a bunch of mixed nuts.

i love you all, so much!

Pictures

Hi everyone! A couple things on pictures... I have pictures from G&G's 50th wedding anniversary, but they are all at my dad's. I will get them when I go to Dothan for Spring Break and I will scan them in. I'm sure several of you also have pictures from then, but if not, I know my mom took a lot of pictures and organized them. Also she has several from Elka's wedding. I will see what I can come up with :).

In other photo news... (Aunt) Mounyen has asked that, in addition to posting pictures here, that we also send them directly to (Uncle) Mark's email. His email is as follows:

This will make it easier for him to compile. I still think it would be fun to post them here as well, though, because we can add stories to go with them sometimes :)! So, if you posted a picture, please also send it (or them) to (Uncle) Mark. Also, make sure to put in the subject line of the email something referring to the reunion, so he knows what it is!

And, I thought I would share one more picture (or two):This picture of Grandpa and Desiree was taken Halloween 2007.

This picture is of Jeff (friend of Ben's), Hila, Brad, Ben, (Aunt) Sue, Christina, and Jimmy around 1991, I believe.

You're Either One of Us, or You Just Wish You Were so Lucky!
